Training: High Dependency

Our high dependency study days are intended to give personal assistants (PAs) an insight into the care needs of clients with complex needs,  to enable the client to live an independent life at home.

Topics covered:

  • Anatomy and Physiology of the Respiratory System
  • Ventilation and Humidification
  • Trachoestomy Care
  • Tracheal Suction
  • Oxygen Saturation / Safety
  • Practical Skills
  • Observations
  • Nebuliser Therapy
  • Ambubagging and Chest Physiotherapy

During the high dependency day we have one of our clients that visits for an informal discussion with the group. This enables PAs to meet our client and ask any relevant questions.

The day is intended to complement the training given by hospitals and by client-based nurses and nurse care managers and to give PAs the opportunity to discuss care issues in a supportive and safe environment.
