Up, up and away: Leigh Rogers and his skydive instructor
A Complete Group colleague is walking on air after making a 12,500ft leap to raise money for a life-saving charity.
Training Manager Leigh Rogers made the jump at Hinton Airfield, Oxfordshire, to support Community First Responders – trained volunteers who respond to 999 calls and provide immediate treatment while an ambulance is on its way – in the Shropshire and Staffordshire areas.
Leigh is a keen supporter of good causes and over the last few years has raised more than £35,000 for charity, with around three-quarters of the cash going towards Penkridge & District Community First Responders, which he set up in 2009.
The group benefits from his experience with the West Midlands Ambulance Service, from which he joined Complete last summer and where he continues to work on a part-time basis, carrying out at least one shift a fortnight.
The skydive was a first for Leigh, who admitted feeling nervous before taking the plunge, strapped to an instructor, but he has now been bitten by the skydiving bug and hopes to make at least two more jumps this year.
Leigh has so far raised £600 as a result of the skydive but donations can still be made by contacting Mike Tym at friends@padcfr.com, with the cash going to support Community First Responders in the area closest to the donor.
