Clinical Nurse Manager – Regional

Accountable to: Senior Nurse

Responsible for: Under the direction of the Senior Nurse you will manage and support a team of Nurses in allocating resources and ensuring high quality clinical nursing provision is met.

Banding: Band 7 in line with Agenda for Change

Role Summary

To provide clinical leadership within the Nursing Team on all issues relating to clinical excellence, liaising with the Senior Nurse, Clinical Director, Operations Director and the appropriate Operational Managers for the Region, on all matters impacting upon the business.

Key Responsibilities

  1. To provide leadership and provide advice and expertise on all clinical nurse issues throughout the Region.
  2. To provide a professional service to the Company’s Board of Directors.
  3. To play a key role in the continuous development of specialist care provision within the ‘Complete’ Group.
  4. To liaise with Primary Care Specialists.
  5. To liaise with the allocated Operational Manager, Clinical Nurse Specialists and other key staff in the company.
  6. To be accountable for the delivery of clinical nurse expertise in the region, representing the company.
  7. To promote a style of leadership that develops and empowers staff, recognising achievements and providing support and assistance.
  8. To represent the ‘Complete’ Groups’ interests and ensure that the implications of the NMC and the standards set by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) are adhered to.
  9. Maintain an awareness of professional development for the allocated Nurse Team.
  10. Co-ordinate and maintain the recruitment of nurses within the patch area.
  11. Line management and clinical supervision of Clinical Nurse Specialists in the region.

Key Result Areas

Operational Planning:

To manage the planning of resources, co-ordinating rota’s for daily activity and On Call, ensuring that the service is maintained, liaising with the Recruitment, Training and Personnel functions as required.

  1. Implement change and improvement in services and systems including ascertaining and developing the medical competencies of employees
  2. Complete and evaluate quality assurance systems.
  3. Set work objectives and targets for Nurse Team, to include PA reviews, client assessments, participation in training of PA’s, Induction and NVQ Assessment.
  4. Attend and participate in Team Meetings with Operations Director and co-ordinate own Team meetings.
  5. Co-ordinate the discharge of Client’s from Hospital, with the named Nurse and Operations Team liaising with pharmaceutical suppliers, Funder, etc
  6. Conduct regular performance reviews with Nurse Team.

Operational Delivery:

  1. To provide an effective, responsible nursing service.
  2. To ensure that the Company meets all the requirements of the Care Quality Commission in matters relating to the delivery of its service provision.
  3. To ensure promotion of the Company’s operational strategy.
  4. Develop Nurse Team to enhance performance and improve care provision in the supervision and training of employees through appraisal and training.
  5. To act as a role model of high quality care provision, to coach, guide and develop staff in delivering a high quality service.
  6. To liaise effectively with Service users, carers and other professionals as        appropriate.
  7. To ensure that the ‘Group’s’ policies and procedures are adhered to all times.

Operational Services:

  1. To ensure the effective management of staff and resources within the Nurse Team.
  2. Management and control of resources, including people, budgets and training.
  3. Support the Operations Manager for the region in the accreditation process, liaising with the Quality Standards Administrator as required.
  4. Ensure that the rights of the ‘service user’ are upheld and promoted at all times, assuring principles of choice, respect, dignity and privacy.
  5. Strive to ensure client satisfaction.
  6. Undertake the management of the on-call service for service users.
  7. Undertake Client assessments in accordance with company standards.
  8. Develop, implement and oversee management of Care Plans in line with the current assessed needs, prior to commencement of a care package, liaising with the allocated Operational Manager.
