The House Adaptation Advisory Service
TheHouse Adaptation Advisory Service (HAAS) was established by the Centre
for Accessible Environments with backing from the Department of Health
and is the only UK wide register of professionals with demonstrable knowledge
of the housing needs of disabled people. The purpose of the service is
to assist disabled people, their families or carers to find an architect
or designer who might help them with a house adaptation. HAAS members
can offer practical and bespoke suggestions on how to adapt homes to

Directgov – Disabled Facilities Grant
Directgov provides information and advice on public services
and particularly in regards to eligibility for the Disabled Facilities
Grant. Local councils are required by law to give Disabled Facilities Grants
to eligible applicants to make houses suitable for disabled people. However,
some of the costs may be expected from the applicant depending on the financial
circumstances. Disabled Facilities Grants are available to owners and tenants
in both private and social housing (in England) to a limit of £25,
000. Grants can be used on any adaptation that will make it easier for
the disabled person to get into and around their home.

Beth Johnson Housing Association
Beth Johnson Housing Association is a successful organisation
